EXTEND® Canister Vacuum SC3683D

I was looking for a small canister vacuum... and I found it! I'm really happy with my new vacuum. My needs are for a soft brush and a long hose for up close work. Like baseboards, shelves, hard to get too places. And how cool is it that you can strap it on over your shoulder. Thank you for such a great product.

I’ve had a bag-less high-end upright of a different brand for several years.

During the pandemic I’ve been doing the vacuuming. The design of that other vacuum is horrible. It is supposed to be maneuverable with a ball design. My house is all tile floors with a few short-pile area rugs. Maneuvering around furniture, tool use for detail and dusting was a challenge. After vacuuming, my allergies would bother me for a couple of days, even though it was cyclonic with HEPA filtration. Of course dust went everywhere when emptying the bin so what good is HEPA then?

Finally, I reached a breaking point and started shopping for a replacement.

I discovered the Sanitaire Extend Canister. It seemed to be the answer. The cost was much lower than the other one and I was unsure it would have quality. But it was lighter than the other one, turns out it is quieter too and having a bag makes better sense for filtration and disposal. Bags are easy to get and inexpensive. The quality is great for the price. I’m not vacuuming to be fashionable, only practical.

This Santaire is so convenient I’m vacuuming more often, faster each time and with much less drama than fighting with that other machine’s awkward design and “cute” tools... and here’s the bonus, the Sanitaire seems to have far better suction and pickup than that expensive one on which the brand is built on boasting about suction. My allergies haven’t flared up with it.

I’m now a big fan of this Sanitaire Extend Canister.

After 17 yrs of using the same little Sanitaire to vacuum my 750 sq. ft. condo in Boston, I finally replaced it with the SC3683D. I figured why spend the $$$ on a Dyson or a Shark when this little powerhouse does the job perfectly well over hardwood and low pile carpeting floors. The suction performance is amazing and the attachments are adequate for my use. While no frills and mostly rigid plastic (metal wand is certainly durable) I purchased based on reliability, value and past experience. I hope I can get 10yrs+ our of this one. Only gripes: very loud even with the HEPA filter (but no different from my old one); the plastic hose can kink and the instructions provided to assemble are very generic and incorrect - metal wand connection is upside down and I still don't know where the tool caddy should really attach to but not a deal breaker by any means.

I used an older model of this machine at my parents house to help them out and detail their house while they were at the hospital all day. Not only were they incredibly grateful, as this is a chore they really struggle with at their age, but I loved it so much I ordered one for myself for my downstairs.
Who needs a nasty broom when you can have this lightweight vacuum over your shoulder that does so much more? The attachments will get you into every nook, cranny, baseboard, door frame, light fixture, and ceiling fan. You can wipe down your blinds and window sills. Got cobwebs high up in the corners? No problem.
My only caution from my parents was to order a lot of bags because they do sell out from time to time, which I did. I caught my husband sweeping the first weekend I brought this home... not only did I take over using the Sanitaire on the hardwood staircase (so superior for getting in-between each railing); I then used it to clean the broom! I'm in love!
